ashfordEstablished in 1920 Ashford Archaeological and Historical Society meets monthly at 7.30pm on the third Monday of September to May at the Friends Meeting House.

After an informal welcome from the committee and the reading of our newsletter a guest speaker presents a talk, usually including a slide show and sometimes artefacts. A wide range of interests have been covered from Kent’s local history to general historical and archaeological subjects. Recent topics have included ‘Kent and the English Civil Wars‘, ‘Travels in Turkey‘, ‘The Conservation and Restoration of Historical Books and Documents‘ and ‘Old Kent Windmills‘.

  1. I’m wondering how to find out about the history of my house. I know it goes back to at least 1871 but I’m not sure how to go back further than that. Thanks
