Edible Archaeology: Callanish stone circle

I am an archaeological illustrator, but I also love making heritage-themed cakes (I’d love to start my own business doing this!), and this is one that I recently made for my husband’s birthday. He is a project manager for GUARD Archaeology in Scotland, and it depicts his favourite archaeological site, the Callanish stone circle – which we also visited on our honeymoon. It is a chocolate and coffee cutter-cream layered cake, with green icing grass. The stones in the inner circle are made from shaped grey icing, with sugar and chocolate popping candy ‘stone’ decorations, and the stones around the outside represent one of the avenues.
